LMAS Photography Exhibit & Feature Film

We are fortunate to have The University of North Texas Latina/o and Mexican-American (LMAS) Studies Program, in conjunction with the Multicultural Center and Department of Spanish, will be hosting a photography exhibit honoring Black History Month. Following the Visual Arts experience, LMAS will be featuring the award winning film, "Artemio" by producer/director Sandra Luz Barroso.

The story of Artemio, born in the USA but forced to move to Mexico with his mother and family is a documentary focusing on the plights of immigrant families that have to face difficult living situations. While most think of difficult living conditions as a situation lacking water, a roof, or a dirty home; Artemio shows the other side of living in a strange place. What is it like not knowing the language, the food, the culture? What is it like living in a new area as a stranger with no means of navigating the difficult social interactions an individual runs into daily? These questions and more will be answered in "Artemio".
