We are sad to report next week's planned Open House/Welcome Back Party on January 22nd is cancelled. However, we are excited to announce that LMAS will host our first virtual plática of the spring semester: "Chicano Politics: Looking Back and Moving Forward," co-sponsored with the Multicultural Center and UNeTe (the Latinx faculty and staff alliance).

Taking place on Tuesday, February 2nd at 7pm, Dr. José Angel Gutiérrez - the 2019 recipient of the United States Hispanic Hero Award, civil rights icon, immigration lawyer, author of The Making of a Chicano Militant and numerous other Latino Studies books - will share his research on, and experience in, both historical and contemporary Chicano politics. This plática will inform everyone from a first-person perspective of what Chicano activism and politics entails through endeavor and accomplishment in the United States. Please make plans to attend this enlightening event. A Zoom link will be provided very soon. Be on the lookout on social media for more details.

See you at the plática!
