Presented by the International Studies Program. Co-sponsored by the Department of History, the Department of Anthropology, the Latina/o and Mexican American Studies Program, the Women's and Gender Studies Program, and the Mayborn School of Journalism.

Patrick Strickland is a journalist and author from North Texas who has reported from fifteen countries across Europe, the Middle East, and North America. His reportage has appeared in The New York Review of Books, The Nation, The New Republic, Politico, The Guardian, Vice, In These Times, Al Jazeera, and elsewhere. He is the author of Alerta! Alerta! and The Marauders and is currently the news editor of Dallas Observer.

He will host this student-centered meet and greet (open to all UNT students) to talk about opportunities creating international careers in journalism and other forms of writing, as well as experiences as a first-generation college student at UNT. Snacks will be provided!

The event will be Wednesday, February 23, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM in person at Marquis Hall 130. Students may also attend via Zoom (click here for link). Masks are highly encouraged to those who attend in person.
